Dubai is quickly evolving into one of the world’s most dynamic travel destinations, and 2024 proved to be a landmark year for the city’s hospitality sector. With a perfect mix of modern tech, cultural immersion, and unique experiences, Dubai continues to impress global travelers – and the numbers back it up.

According to KPMG’s latest Hospitality Report, a remarkable 94% of visitors were satisfied with their hotel stay in Dubai in the past year, up from 92% in 2022. Additionally, 80% of travelers said they were likely to book a hotel stay in Dubai again, showing strong trust and demand for the city’s hospitality offerings.

What’s Fueling the Surge?

Dubai is diversifying its tourism appeal – from adventure holidays and wellness retreats to cultural exploration and business travel. At the same time, the government is investing heavily in infrastructure and technology. This includes seamless digital bookings, AI-powered concierge services, and smart check-in/check-out systems – key tech upgrades that 88% of guests now consider crucial for a positive hotel experience.

Experience Over Luxury

While Dubai continues to offer world-class luxury hotels, more visitors now seek authentic, personalized, and eco-conscious stays. From desert safaris and cultural tours to farm-to-table dining and wellness experiences, hotels are curating experiences that reflect Emirati heritage and modern sustainability.

Tourism by the Numbers:

  • Hotel occupancy rates rose to 7%, up from 77.1%
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) grew to AED 666, compared to AED 654.4
  • New long-stay tourist visas for Indian nationals are increasing demand – with 70% of surveyed travelers more likely to visit due to the change

What to Expect Ahead

With the ambitious Dubai Economic Agenda D33 aiming to make the city one of the top 3 global tourist destinations by 2033, the travel landscape is only going to get more exciting. Visitors are leaning toward sustainability, deeper cultural connections, and seamless tech-driven stays.

Sidharth Mehta, Partner at KPMG Lower Gulf, states:

“Dubai is re-inventing itself for the global traveler. The UAE’s leadership has laid a solid foundation by investing in world-class infrastructure, while also embracing sustainability and personalized experiences that today’s travelers are seeking.”
